COLOR TOUR: Portland Modern Slender House

The Slender House in Portland’s Mississippi Neighborhood just got a colorful update by Wendy Scott Design and will be featured on the 2023 Portland Modern Home Tour. According to the tour website, “the existing structure has been given a fresh face with updates to walls, tile, art, furniture and more. This home provided the perfect blank slate to bring in colorist Kristin Van Buskirk of Woonwinkel for consultation on a color palette that harmonizes with the existing architectural material palette by Waechter Architecture.”

Color Story No. 4 | Garden Greens

The color green brings a natural balance to interiors and exteriors. Similar to a walk in the forest or a day spent planting this summer’s veggies, shades of this calming hue connect our homes to the world outside. Used on exterior siding or a front door, green takes cues from the surrounding landscape and amplifies its beauty. Used inside, green is easy to live with and suitable for any space – from kitchens to bedrooms. Like layers of leaves found in the garden, this color embodies a gentle energy that feels fresh and affirming when leaning towards yellow and grounding and gorgeous when moving into blue.

Color Story No. 2 | Heart-warming Hues

Embrace pinkish hues for a heart-warming home. Soft and soothing, muted pastels create the feeling of calm and comfort when incorporated into our spaces. Depending on the room, these hues can be an unexpected backdrop for modern furnishing and decor. Adjacent to pink on the color wheel, lavender and peach can take the place of pink when more complexity is desired.
